Frequently Asked Questions:

When does the winter season start? Our Opening dates for the 2008/09 Season are December 5 2008 to April 5, 2009.  Where applicable, pre-season job training would take place in late November.  These times can vary by a week or two depending on snow conditions.

Does Red have staff housing? There is no staff housing at Red, however there are rental accommodations available in Rossland, which is just 5 km from the mountain, Warfield – 10 km and Trail – 15 km

I'm not a Canadian citizen. Can I apply for work at Red? You must be able to present a valid work visa to be considered for employment at Red Mountain Resort. Contact the Canadian consulate nearest you for details on how to obtain a work visa.

I tried getting a work visa; they said I need a job offer, but I can't even apply until I get a visa. What gives? The Canadian work visa policy is meant to ensure that Canadians have the first opportunity to apply for available jobs in Canada. When the employer demonstrates that there is a shortage of specialized workers in the position they are attempting to fill, it is only then that the employer may look outside of the country for help. Though it may be challenging for non-Canadian residents to find a job in Canada, it is not impossible. Speak with your proposed employer or a citizenship & immigration attorney about your work visa options.

I am not eligible for a holiday working visa (because I am too old or my country doesn’t offer one), can I get a sponsorship visa?  The Canadian government’s work visa policy is designed to ensure that Canadian citizens get first priority when applying for work in their own country. One exception to this policy is where the Canadian workforce has a demonstrated shortage of specialized workers as Occupations Under Pressure.  Visit www.hrsdc.gc.ca for more information on Foreign Work Visas and Occupations Under Pressure.

Does Red Mountain offer sponsored Foreign Work Visas?  Currently the Snowsports School sponsors foreign ski and snowboard instructors.  Please note that there is a limited number of visas for instructors. Contact each department separately to see if they will sponsor you.
