Red Mountain’s Fall Line Ski & Snowboard School is excited to team up with you to make the most out of every day on the slopes; whether it’s your first day on snow, you’re riding powder in Paradise, or dream of exploring tree runs on Granite. Our team of professional instructors are here to share their passion with you and make your experience at RED an unforgettable one. The magic happens when we can learn to respect the mountains and have fun together, so let’s get out there and SHRED RED!

General Information

  • Lesson registration for the 2024/25 season will open on November 18, 2024. Book your lesson online (for select programs), over the phone at 778-457-5001 or in person at our booking desk. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Day-of bookings may be accepted if there is availability.
  • Unless stated, lessons do not include lift passes or rental equipment. Guests participating in a lesson receive 20% off their lift ticket when you purchase them in the Red Mountain Snow School building.
  • We require all children aged 12 and under to be picked up by a parent at the end of their lesson.

Know Before You Go:

Welcome to your ski or snowboard lesson with Red Mountain Snow School! If you are about to join us for a lesson out on the slopes, there are a couple of things to know before you get here.

  • Come dressed to be outside! Lesson participants should come prepared in warm winter jackets, snow pants, mitts or gloves & a face warmer/neck tube. We recommend long ski socks and wool or fleece base layers to wear underneath your clothes. Hand warmers and toe warmers can be purchased in our Piste Off Retail Shop.
  • Helmets are mandatory for everyone 18 and under, and highly recommended for everyone 19+. Goggles are recommended to help with snow, sun and wind.
  • If you have your own equipment, please ensure it fits before your lesson starts. If you are renting equipment, arrive an hour early to get through the rental shop before your lesson starts.
  • All program participants are required to have a lift ticket or season’s pass on them during a lesson.

  • Red Mountain Snow School is located in a log cabin between the Magic Carpet and Silverlode Chairlift. Come check in with our Snow School staff 5-10 minutes before your lesson starts and we will show you where to meet your instructor.
  • All lessons will start promptly at the scheduled start time. Allow yourself enough time to pick up pre-purchased lift tickets or rental equipment before heading to your lesson.
  • Meet your instructor at outside the signed meeting zone/flag approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled lesson. The flag colour corresponds to your ability level (see our Ability Level chart if you are unsure).
  • Your lesson will end back in the same location where you started. Please note that all children 12 and under must be picked up at the end of their lesson.

Cancellation Policy

  • All lessons must be paid in full at the time of booking.
  • Lessons may be refunded or re-booked more than 48 hours in advance with a $25 admin fee per lesson. Any re-booked lesson must be dated within the current season. Within 48 hours of the start of the lesson, there will be no refunds or option to re-book. Guests who are late for their lesson may not be able to join.
  • All lessons are subject to cancellation due to low enrollment or extreme weather. Participants will be notified 24hrs in advance and will be given the option to re-book or refund the original payment method.
  • Once a Club or Camp has commenced, there will be no refunds or make-up days for missed lessons issued.

Ability Levels

Level 1 – Never Ever

skiSKI - Has never skied before, cannot stop/control speed

skiSNOWBOARD - Has never snowboarded before, cannot stop/control speed.

Level 2 – Beginner

skiSKI - Can ski in a snow plow, turning and stopping safely. Comfortable riding the Magic Carpet and has started skiing Green runs on Silverlode Chairlift

skiSNOWBOARD - Can side slip on the heel and toe edge, and stop safely. Can change direction side to side (pendulum). Learning to make individual turns, and sometimes linking them. Comfortable riding the Magic Carpet, and green runs on the Silverlode Chairlift.

Level 3 – Novice

skiSKI - Can parallel ski on Green terrain. Can sometimes ski in uneven snow on sides of run. Working on parallel skiing on Blue runs. Can ski all runs on Silverlode chairlift, and starting to ski on Topping Creek chairlift.

skiSNOWBOARD – Can link turns on Green runs. Working on linking turns on Blue runs. Can get on and off chairlifts with confidence. Comfortable riding the Silverlode Chairlift, and starting to ride the Topping Creek chairlift.

Level 4 – Intermediate

skiSKI – Can parallel ski on Blue runs. Using poles to pole plant. Working on skiing ungroomed snow, some trees and moguls. Comfortable riding Topping Creek and Paradise Chairlift

skiSNOWBOARD - Can confidently link turns on Blue runs. Uses the lower body to control snowboard. Working on riding ungroomed snow, some trees and moguls. Comfortable riding Topping Creek and Paradise Chairlift.

Level 5 – Advanced

skiSKI – Can parallel ski on all Black groomed runs. I can hold an edge on steep terrain, and carve turn on Blue runs. I can ski with control through trees and bumps on Blue and some Black runs. Working on mastering rhythm and control in all areas. Comfortable riding all chairlifts.

skiSNOWBOARD - Can confidently ride all Black groomed runs. I can stay centered and mobile over my board when riding moguls. I am comfortable riding at speed on all Blue and Black tree runs. Working on mastering rhythm and control in all areas. Comfortable riding all chairlifts.

    Intermediate and advanced skiers and riders can come explore RED Mountain Resort with one of our Pros!

  • Discover Skiing and Snowboarding

    Ages 6-12 & 13+ | Ability Level: 1

    This lesson package is designed for those who have never skied or snowboarded before. Our “all-inclusive” beginner package includes a 2-hour lesson, full rental setup and a Lower Mountain lift pass.

  • Kinderski – Lessons

    Ages 3-5 | Ability Levels: All

    Introduce your 3-5 year old to skiing safely in a fun environment with our trusted instructors. Kinderski lessons are available to little skiers only.

  • Kinderski – Lesson & Daycare Package

    Ages 18mon-5yr | Ability Levels: All

    Want to drop your little one off at daycare, and make sure they get a ski lesson too? Our Kinderski Daycare Package includes a half or full day of daycare, along with a group ski lesson.

    Our holiday camps are a 3-day adventure designed to turn your kiddos into shredding pros! Each day of camp is spent with the same instructor and group, learning new skills in a fun and exciting learning environment.

    Our 5 or 10 week-long club programs are a great way for your kids to develop their skiing or snowboarding skills, meet new friends and explore the mountains!

  • Park Ratz

    This 10-week program will get you going with the basics: jumping, spinning, buttering, sliding boxes & rails.

  • All Mountain Riders

    Ages 7-12 & 13-18 | Start Dates: Jan 11 & 12

    This 10-week program is a non-competitive approach that will focus on developing advanced skills with our qualified and experienced coaches.

  • Men’s & Women’s Master The Mountain

    Ages 19+ | Men: Tues & Sat | Women: Wed & Sun

    This 5-week program is an adult ski program designed to get you comfortably skiing RED Mountain Resort’s legendary terrain.

  • Spring Park Camp

    Ages 6-12 | March 17-19

    Spring is the time to shred the park, so come join us for some laps! Our Intro to Park Camp will get you started with the basics: jumping, spinning, buttering, sliding boxes & rails.

  • Men’s & Women’s Master The Park

    Ages 19+ | Men: Mar 22-23 | Women: Mar 29-30

    This 2-day program is an adult ski program designed to get you comfortably skiing RED Mountain Resort’s legendary terrain.

School Groups

RED Mountain’s affordable school group program is designed to make skiing and snowboarding accessible to as many kids as possible. Our ultimate goal is to create a fun, supportive and safe learning environment where students are inspired to be outside in the winter. Whether they’re learning a new sport, or improving on skills they already have, they will build a long-lasting relationship and respect for the mountains and snow.

Our school group package includes discounted lift tickets, lessons and rentals, as well as competitive rates on lift passes and rentals for chaperones. Available Monday to Friday during school term dates.
